After considering the current layout of our client’s duplex and the functionality they were after, we decided to completely switch positions of the existing kitchen and dining room, as well as adding on a sunroom and scullery extension to both sides of the space. This added some extra floor space to the small footprint by incorporating external dead space into the internal layout.
As with the rest of the house, the focus was on creating a minimalist space influenced by Scandinavian interiors. This was achieved by using white paint throughout the downstairs living area and installing white oak-look laminate flooring. Within the kitchen space we used a combination of white oak and matte white cabinetry paired with matte black tapware and black accessories. A slatted detail on the oak cabinetry was also introduced to make the space feel a little different, a little special.
