DARLING POINT VICTORIAN HOME TOUR

Darling Point Victorian Home Tour

It is officially ‘cosy up by the fire’ season in Cape Town today. Kitchens are said to be the heart of the home, but fireplaces are a close second when it comes to the perfect gathering space.

It was the fireplace surround in this Darling Point Victorian home that first caught my attention. I was looking for inspiration for my own home, and the subtle yet striking marble along with the bullnose edge combined all the detailing I was after. A stunning balance of traditional meets contemporary, creating a focal point in the room and providing warmth in both function and aesthetic.

The rest of the interiors achieve an equally restrained style and tactile palette, where every surface in the home has been hand-detailed and finished. This ranges from polished plasterwork, limestone slab flooring and timber ceiling wall panelling and lining boards. All details celebrate the patina of time, with traditional oak parquet and white-wrapped walls, elegantly blended with linen furnishings and burnished brass.
