JANUARY MOOD | BACK TO BASICS

January 2024 Back To Basics

Hello 2024!

We’re Back! So good to be back at our desks after an incredible restful break. I spent my time travelling Germany, visiting the Christmas markets, we went skiing and we also spent Christmas in Amsterdam. For the first time in a long time I decided to just press pause with work and enjoy the holiday uninterrupted. And it was EVERYTHING!Coming back today has had a real buzz. We are all feeling rested and ready to rock the new year.I

Two weeks into the year and we’ve loved the opportunity to embrace this quiet window of time to check in with how we feel and where we would like to go. As interior designers, this process often starts with the space around us.

With each new year comes the natural impulse for a little introspection. And while we find ourselves looking back in a state of reflection, we are simultaneously anticipating the year ahead. While it may not be a case of “new year, new you”, we certainly do have a case of “ new year, new goals” on our hands.

It’s not unusuall for people to hope that buying a certain piece of furniture or decor item will bring them a little closer to the person they want to become. The same applies to the homes we create and the lives we want to lead. In reality, we should be stripping away all the layers to really get to know who we are, what inspires us and what motivates us first.

Because our things hold meaning to us.

The simple process of combining our own meaningful things with our unique creative experience allows something special to happen. This personal moment of creativity invites others to see who we really are. And those careful choices come from knowing yourself.

Sadly, many people miss the opportunity to let this happen because we’re too busy emulating someone else. And while design is often a process of re-design –  cherry picking different elements to create the perfect picture for you, – it is very easy to lose focus of who you are, what your needs are and what reflects your design style in the process.

That’s why this year, and month, our focus is all about getting back to basics.

All too often we see our clients get swept up in the idea of a home renovation, without realising how much planning and detailing work is required to even start the process. Understandably their focus is on the end result and the final visuals.

Part of this process includes stripping back the layers and getting to know ourselves better, breaking down the details of project into their most basic parts, asking the tough questions and helping our clients find their way so they don’t get lost in the design process. When we do this, what matters to becomes glaringly obvious.

If you’re considering getting the wheels in motion on your own room makeover, mini renovation or full building project this year, RIGHT NOW is the best time to make sure your planning is underway. Because as we all know, design is in the details

We can’t wait to get back to the nitty gritty with you. As always, we thank you for following along with us.

Xx
