Hello June!
I recently did a quick count and realised I’ve travelled through 57 countries. I still can’t quite believe it.
I think it goes without saying that I love experiencing design around the world, whether that’s in bustling cities or small, quiet towns. I love architecture with history. I get inspired by the colour scheme of nature, and the authenticity of building techniques. Europe especially has my heart. Houses built with forged cement on the Greek Islands, limestone buildings and sculptures in Puglia, travertine and marble stone in Tuscany.
When I travel, I intentionally carve out time for art galleries, vintage stores, hotels, restaurants and neighbourhoods I’ve carefully researched beforehand. The Housemate might roll his eyes when I call it design research, but I stand by it.
Different spaces make us feel, behave and think differently, and those experiences inevitably influence the way I design. Perhaps that’s why I love travelling so much.
One of the philosophies I truly believe in is that everyone deserves good design. Great design brings joy, improves daily life and shapes the way we experience the world around us, from well-designed public spaces and vibrant neighbourhoods, to a family kitchen renovation right here at home.
Which is why I can hardly contain my excitement for a long-awaited design trip to Stockholm and Copenhagen later this month…

Back in the office, in the run-up to this exciting adventure, we are immersed in several exciting gut renovations (is there anything more satisfying than a blank canvas to work from?), as well as finally getting around to shooting some of our completed projects from last year. It’s always such a privilege to walk back through these spaces and see how they’ve become part of the everyday lives of the families who call them home.
While this may look worlds apart from the Scandinavian streets I’ll soon be exploring, they’re actually driven by the same goal: creating spaces that improve the way people live every day.
This month I’ll be taking you along on my Scandinavian design adventure, sharing the spaces, shops and ideas that catch my eye, while also bringing you behind the scenes of our latest renovations and newly photographed projects. From inspiring places abroad to beautiful homes closer to home, I’ll be exploring the design details that make life feel a little better – every single day.
Thanks as always for following along.
Xx
