We know firsthand how difficult it is to find good equality and affordable bedside tables. It’s a rabbit hold of options, but these three pointers will help you on your sourcing way.
MATERIALS MATTER

It goes without saying that if you invest in higher quality pieces made from natural material, they are going to last longer. Solid wood or veneer, natural stone and even steel finishes are durable and will remain aimless.
We currently have affordable composite options, such as veneer with melamine interiors, however if your bedside table has a drawer, you also need to consider the quality of the materials going into the piece. High-end soft close runners are a must on investment pieces.
SIZE & SCALE GO TOGETHER LIKE GIN & TONIC

The bigger the bed, the bigger the beside pedestal in order for the piece to feel balanced in the room. Obviously, if you have a very small space, a petite nightstand is going to be your only option. .
When it comes to height, there is no hard and fast rule, but typically having your bedside pedestal the same height as the top of your mattress is a good guide. Some people like it higher and others low, so a safe area is about 10cm above or below your mattress height.
CONSIDER YOUR NEEDS

Do you need storage, or is your beside pedestal simply somewhere to place your water bottle at night?
We find that just one drawer is always helpful to hide cords, meds for those duvet days, remote controls and books. If there is one thing we don’t want, it is a crowded surface! We prefer closed storage to an open shelf, to keep things look tidy and feeling calm.
