A gentle palette of creams, alabaster, pale blush, and oyster tones, layered with the warmth of blond timber, wraps this family home in a soft, cocoon-like calm. It’s a space that feels both timeless and current—a thoughtful blend of classic structure and contemporary ease, with just the right amount of eclectic charm. Much of that charm comes from the meaningful pieces the owners have collected on their travels, each item adding its own quiet story.
It’s clear from the moment you enter that this is a home where design has been deeply considered—and beautifully executed. From the elegant marble archway that defines the transition between the entry and the open-plan living and dining area, to the curated mix of vintage designer chairs and sculptural decor, every detail speaks to a generous design spirit (and likely, a generous budget too).
After poring over every image—twice—I found myself not only inspired, but armed with three clever, understated design ideas that we’ll absolutely be bringing into our own projects. And you can, too.
Cafè Style Dining Banquette and Tables
In many homes with open-plan living, there’s a familiar rhythm: the kitchen flows into the dining area, which then spills into the living space. And often, we’d expect to see a long rectangular dining table framed by 8 to 12 chairs, anchored by a pendant light above. It’s a classic layout—and it can be beautiful.
But this setup, where a dining banquette seamlessly backs onto the sofa, completely rethinks the norm. It’s not just a clever use of space—it’s a considered, custom-feeling design solution that cuts down on unnecessary circulation zones, all while looking beautifully intentional.
The detail that truly made us pause? The choice to use a series of smaller tables rather than one large one. It keeps the space feeling light, open, and effortless. And of course, these tables can easily be grouped together for larger gatherings—but day-to-day, they invite a more casual, interactive kind of dining. It’s smart, flexible, and just the kind of idea we love bringing into our own projects.
Ceiling Mounted Towel Rails
We’ve seen similar concepts before, but this double towel rail installation feels particularly artful—more considered and sculptural than most.
Having recently wrestled with towel rail placement on a project (even in a generously sized bathroom), I can’t help but wish this idea had come to mind sooner. A single wall-mounted rail rarely offers enough drying space for two towels, and this layered approach—installed at two heights—feels like pure design clarity. It’s functional, beautiful, and quietly clever. Just the kind of solution we love to bookmark for future spaces.
Using Two Headboards To Make One
Well hello, obvious—in the best possible way. What might seem like a design dilemma to some (that visible join down the centre of the bed) is actually what makes this setup feel so chic. The split between the two headboards becomes a feature, not a flaw—especially with the pillows styled symmetrically on either side.
Rather than opting for a custom oversized headboard, two matching pieces have been placed side by side to achieve the same generous look. It’s simple, smart, and so visually satisfying. Proof that thoughtful styling can turn an everyday solution into something quietly striking.
