Remember this month’s mantra Escapade? Well here we are in Johannesburg for a city break at Hallmark House Hotel in the Maboneng Precint.
This 46-room hotel has taken over the fourth and fifth floors Hallmark House, Sir David Adjaye’s first residential tower in Africa. The 1970’s building was originally home to a diamond polishing business, which Adjaye has transformed into apartments and a hotel.
Described as a lifestyle space, the facilities on offer include fashionable retail stores, a microbrewery, and a coffee shop. The rooftop restaurant is the place to go for Karoo lamb and rooibos malva pudding before retiring to one of the minimalistic rooms outfitted with colorful African headboards and secluded balconies.
