HOUSE G | ASHLEE’S BEDROOM REVEAL

Welcome to the reveal of Ashlee’s bedroom, a small room with lots of personality – just like its owner!

This is how we finished the room at the beginning of 2021. Apart from the bed and new cupboards, the rest of the furniture we already owned, so it was a matter of making it all work in the small space.

Keeping the rug was one of the decisions I toyed with the most. In our old playroom room, this rug was the bomb!  It is super soft and fluffy, and kids gravitate towards it. However for this room it is really too big and pretty much takes up all the remaining floor space. It just isn’t right for the space and if it was a just a little smaller it would look WAY better.

However because it’s such a great rug and Ashlee still spends most of her time playing on the floor, it just seemed like a good idea to keep it. In time I might swap it out to the new playroom (when that day eventually comes) and then bring a smaller one into this room.

This kitchen has been one of the best kids furniture purchases ever. It was never something I imagined purchasing, until I was at friends house and I saw how many hours it kept the kids entertained. I think I ordered it two days later! It is from Lil Peanut.

This wall shelf I made myself – and when I say that, let me clarify by saying I presented the idea to my uncle who has great carpentry skills, and then basically stood by his side while he made it for me. While I do know it’s purely decorative as no one can reach the selves, I love the opportunity for a display vignette against the wallpaper.

This table and chair set is from Hello Dovetail, which we’ve had for about 3 years now and it is still such a winner! In fact, so is the bookshelf.

The pink bedroom doors possibly push The Client over the edge a little, but I love the contrast of the pink door against the dark blue wall.

I bought these trophy heads from Target in the US when we still lived in  New York and they have been so great. You can get similar styles from MRP Home and Kids Living.

This wicker pram was mine when I was growing up. My mother is an excellent hoarder, and she kindly let me beg her to have it for my girls.

I also saw her making this gorgeous quilt, which I knew would be the perfect addition to Ashlee’s bedroom, which has since become a treasured item.
