Staircases can be tricky little things to incorporate into your home design. Do you remember when our designer Claire had her staircase dilemma, as discussed in this post?
While most people prefer a nice straight staircase easy to walk and up down, there are many advantages of a circular or spiral staircase, the most obvious being the space saving benefits and flexibility of these designs.
A conventional staircase needs to have perfect dimensions, whereas, a circular staircase allows one a little more freedom. You can, for example, have a staircase that rotates around a vertical axis with smaller steps and the top and larger ones at the bottom.
As we consider staircase designs for a few new projects, our search has shown us some amazing staircase designs. We recently took inspiration from this beautiful staircase designed by GSquared and their SM37 house project.
Whether making use of concrete, sustainable and locally sourced plywood, twisted marble and steel or colourful lacquered steel, these designs are masterpieces in their own right and are often the most outstanding feature and focal point in a home.
