In our first blog post of the year, and having watch 2018 disappear in blur, we decided that 2019 was all about slow living. For us this meant trying to not get lost in project details and taking the time to look up and see what is happening around us, connecting more with people in our lives and achieving a more consistent work balance.
While we unfortunately may not have consistently achieved that throughout the year, try as we might, our approach to the upcoming holiday season is no different. We are inspired by the beauty and simplicity of natural elements, sustainability and decor that we can relate to for our summer Christmas.
Today we have gathered some of our favourite Christmas images from Instagram that are inspiring us this holiday
From eco-friendly paper and wooden ornaments to shopping centre decorations reimagined for a truly African Christmas and handmade by local artisans and crafters in an effort to improve the well-being of communities affected by HIV and AIDS.
We love the idea of wire wreaths that can be decorated with fresh flowers and foliage to reflect your own style and the environment where you live and that are also easy to store throughout the year, taking up minimal space.
The colour palette that we are crushing on this season is that of burgundies, burnt oranges and tans, paired together with greenery and charcoal tones. Suspended centrepieces, alternative Christmas tree options and decorations that can be re-purposed or reused are but a few of the trends that we are seeing a lot of and expect, and hope, to see even more in the years to come.
The common thread we see in these images is minimalism, sustainability and a reliance on the simplistic beauty nature provides us with. We are truly inspired by less consumerism, less plastic and less stress this holiday season and a slower pace, spent with family and friends.
Merry Christmas
