Even though the weather in Cape Town is deeply emotional at the moment, I’m following the mentality of “if you build it, they will come”. Which basically means it’s time to give my outdoor living area a bit of a jazz up. It’s not a big space so I don’t need much. It is also completely uncovered and flows directly off our living room, so the two spaces need to work together and the pieces need to be durable.
Overall the bigger furniture pieces are in place and I’ve given them some TLC after a brutal winter. My focus is really on finding some nice coffee and side tables. However, as you know good and affordable pieces are really difficult to come by, which always surprises me given how outdoors focused we are in South Africa.
Previously I had round coffee tables but honestly I don’t think they worked well in the space. I either need smaller ones that don’t get in the way of the stacking doors, or a rectangular option that runs with the space. In an ideal world I’d love an oval shape, so that the curved edges can help soften the space, but that’s seems to be like gold dust.
I’m in the market for white and off-white pieces, but we also pulled together black, wood and colourful options to help you spruce up your space.
