Since the start of lockdown I’ve found my instagram feed regularly filled with shelf styling tips and tricks. And while lockdown regulations may be easing off just a teeny tiny bit, we all know its going to be a long time before we are allowed back to our favourite drinking holes.
So we’re feeling like all those well intentioned shelf styling pieces of advice missed one really important detail – how to set up and style your own home bar on those shelves! Given that is a Friday before a long weekend, and you might be feeling a little elated after yesterday’s lockdown update, we feel the timing is ideal to create your own home bar.
Setting up a stylish bar area creates a fun and chic focal point and is a great place to store—or showcase—your libations. And you don’t need to go out and invest in any special furniture either. You can easily set up your home bar on your open shelves, sideboard or side table, using items found around your home.
Along with displaying your favourite statement glassware and bottles of spirits, think about using ingredients as decor. A bowl of citrus fruit adds a colourful pop to your bar arrangement. Display these alongside a vase of flowers. The addition of natural elements makes the space feel intentional and will do wonders for making your home bar feel like it’s part of your rooms design.
If you’ve got space to work with, consider using books to create little vignettes to add height and bring in a personal element. Candles are great for adding some moody atmosphere after dark. We feel your biggest challenge at the moment is making sure your bar is all stocked up! Happy Friday…..
