TINY BATHROOM RENOVATION 101

tiny bathroom renovation tips

It’s not uncommon to hear sighs of despair from clients regarding tiny bathrooms. The belief is that you can’t have it all in a small space, and while of course there are some limitations, small bathroom spaces need not compromise on style and function. We’ve pulled together a few key points to consider when planning your small bathroom renovation.

ONE

Try to line up all the services and plumbing along one wall. Not only does this give you an easier build, but visually this opens up one side  of the room giving the appearance of more space.

This arrangement also works from a design perspective, meaning you can create defined wet areas and strategically tile one side of the room, thus freeing up the other side for anything else that takes your design fancy.  If you integrate elements and eliminate boundaries, you allow the room to read as one longer space.

TWO

Take advantage of wall hung fixtures. We’ve mentioned this before here – floating pieces trick the eye into thinking less space is taken up because the floor area is free.

Larger floor tiles give the impression of larger floor space and less grout equates to less dirt.

THREE

Remember – Less is More. A busy surface can clutter and crowd any room, so try to free up as many spaces as possible. This includes wall mounted plumbing fixtures, which then free up your countertop.

FOUR

Harness the natural light. If possible, enlarging windows and allowing in more natural light will absolutely make a small space feel larger.

An oversized mirror also helps to bounce the light around and make the space feel more open.

A really important note to remember – a small bathroom renovation doesn’t mean small timeframes. It is always best to take your time and ensure you get the job done properly.
