Over the years I have seen hundreds of gorgeous homes, and quite honestly I never tire of flipping through magazine pages or scrolling through images showcasing beautiful home interiors. And this soothing home tour is no exception.
Belonging to Julia Busuttil Nishimura, Australia cook and columnist at The Design Files – of which I am an avid reader! – the house consists of light-filled modern interiors, multiple living and outdoor spaces, green courtyards, and a separate studio at the rear of the block.
It is the the mix of materials used in the open plan living area that really stand out to me. The renovated interiors feature white terrazzo, light timbers, and blonde brick – all of which compliment the clients’ existing furniture. We have talked about the rise of bold marble being used in kitchen design, so the terrazzo style countertops and splash backs are a refreshing material installation. Pops of colour have been introduced through the books, art prints, and Julia’s extensive ceramics collection, as well as the gorgeous dusky pink sofa.
