Duvet Day anyone?! Not sure about the rest of you guys, but for us down here in Cape Town the weather today is dire. Pure winter misery, especially for this summer sun loving gal. I guess the time has come for battening down the hatches and getting our bedrooms ready for the cold, wet, rainy season ahead of us.
To help you through the seasonal change, these are some of our favourite go to tips for warming up your bedroom this winter.
CHUNKY KNIT
Nothing speaks of winter comfort more than a thick, handmade knitted blanket. Throw it over a bed or reading chair for instant cosiness.
WARM WOOD
Natural elements – like wood, wicker and rattan – not only fill a room with character, but bring immediate warmth into the space.
LAYERS OF TEXTURE
A cold stark bed is not inviting. Extra pillows, soft and fluffy cushions, textural linen, that chunky knit throw or sheepskin rug and soft rug underfoot – all these layers of texture work together to create the ultimate warm and cosy bedroom.
STACKS OF BOOKS
Nothing says you’ve got all the time in the world like a stack of books or magazines. It creates the perfect setting for kicking back and relaxing in bed for a good read.
AMBIANT LIGHTING
Ambient lighting can be your recessed ceiling lights on dim, a bedside lamp or a few candles placed next to your bed. Low lighting creates a relaxing and welcoming environment, easing you into and out of your day.
